Case Studies

Mason Evans have investigated and carried out mining instability risk assessment at the site of the proposed St Ambrose High School. Assessment indicated the site to be at risk from shallow abandoned mineworkings in two coal seams and from up to four abandoned mineshafts. Based on the investigations we designed a scheme to stabilise the mineworkings by drilling and pressure grouting and the shafts by a combination of grouting and capping. The stabilisation works will commence under our supervison and direction in early 2010.

The development forms part of North Lanarkshire Councils ongoing commitment to improve existing school facilities through a programme of new build construction and refurbishment of existing properties.
